Applications
Horizontal Machines
The NXA Ultimate is perfect for measuring horizontal alignment conditions but its real power is in helping correct misalignment. The dual sensors allow the NXA to maintain the true position of the shafts, even as unintended movements are experienced during the alignment process. The benefit of this “true positon sensing” is that it allows the user to complete the alignment using the Verti-Zontal™ compound move, adjusting in both the vertical and horizontal planes without remeasuring between moves. A Verti-Zontal™ alignment is a great time saver since alignments can be completed in just one or two tries. The NXA Ultimate also comes with a number of utility programs to make the alignment process easier. These include Softcheck™ to control for soft foot conditions, FeetLock™ to deal with base and bolt bound situations, HotCheck™ to calculate the difference between measurements taken in a cold state versus a hot condition, and Target Values, which automatically adjusts the readings to compensate for pre-determined alignment targets based on thermal growth or dynamic movement data.
Vertical Machines
The same power and ease of use found of the horizontal alignment program can be found in the vertical alignment program. The vertical alignment program is used when aligning flanged-mounted machines.
Machine Train
The NXA’s machine train routine simplifies the complexity of aligning multiple units with connecting shafts. The software includes a “minimal moves” function which identifies the best reference machine to minimize the number of moves required to complete the alignment.
Circular Flatness
The circular flatness program measure flatness at different diameters. It us used when measuring the flatness across flanged connections.
Rectangular Flatness
The rectangular flatness program measures in a grid pattern. It is used when measuring the flatness across bases, foundations, etc.
Straightness
With the straightness application, straightness can be measured in two axes. The laser beam is used as reference and the deviation in distance between the laser beam and the measurement object is measured in two or more positions, with the use of the receiver.
Hotcheck
This program calculates the appropriate target values for an alignment based on the machine’s hot condition and ambient condition. The ultility retrieves two saved shaft alignment measurements — one in the machine’s cold, or ambient condition and one in the hot conidition — and then calculates the appropriate target values. Those values can be used the next time to ensure proper alignment at running conditions.
Rectangular Flatness
The rectangular flatness program measures in a grid pattern. It is used when measuring the flatness across bases, foundations, etc.
Utilities
Soft Check
This program calculates the appropriate target values for an alignment based on the machine’s hot condition and ambient condition. The utility retrieves two saved shaft alignment measurements — one in the machine’s cold, or ambient condition and one in the hot condition — and then calculates the appropriate target values. Those values can be used the next time to ensure proper alignment at running conditions.
Feetlock
This program allows the user to test alternate solutions in situations where the movable machine is base bound or bolt bound.
Target Values
Allows the system to compensate for pre-determined alignment targets. The user can establish targets using this function and then go directly to shaft alignment.
Memory Manager
The NXA Ultimate’s data management function. Measurements can be organized in folders and subfolders. Single measurements and/or complete data structures can be copied to USB stick.
Machine Defined Data
A set of machine configuration templates for storing data for individual machines
Omniview Activation
Opens a window for activating or deactivating OmniView, the feature that changes the on-screen orientation to match what the user is actually seeing, tracking the user’s position relative to the machine being aligned.
Adjustable Screen Filter
Allows the user to adjust the sensor’s reading rate in order to screen out severe vibration.
Sampling Time
Allows the user to modify the sampling time of the sensor readings. Also offers the ability to run a repeatability test to determine if the vibration from nearby machines is affecting the data quality of the alignment.
